Joel Mokyr

教授简介：

1974年获耶鲁大学经济学博士学位，是美国西北大学Robert H. Strotz Professor of Arts and Sciences和经济学与历史学教授。同时他在特拉维夫大学Eitan Berglas 经济学院任Sackler研究员。他的研究领域为技术和人口的经济史。曾任Journal of Economic History主编、牛津经济史百科全书主编（5卷，2004），现为普林斯顿大学出版社出版的西方世界经济史系列书籍的主编、Westview Press的经济史系列书籍主编之一。曾任经济史协会主席、西北大学经济系系主任，现为美国艺术与科学院院士。著作包括The Lever of Riches: Technological Creativity and Economic Progress(1990)、The British Industrial Revolution: an Economic Perspective(编辑，1993, 第二版1998)、The Gifts of Athena: Historical Origins of the Knowledge Economy(2002，获美国政治科学协会颁发的技术与科学政策最佳图书Don K. Price奖) 、Entrepreneurs and Entrepreneurship in Economic History(与William J. Baumol 和David S. Landes共同编辑，2008)。他曾经研究过爱尔兰饥荒、19世纪欧洲大陆工业化以及拿破仑战争的经济影响。目前他正撰写两部著作：The Enlightened Economy: an Economic History of Britain, 1700-1850以及Neither Fluke nor Destiny: Evolutionary Models in Economic History。
