The history of the UAB begins on 6 June 1968, when the decree on the creation of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is officially promulgated.

Eight scientific disciplines at UAB are among the top 100 in the world: Veterinary (placed among 50 best world’s universities on 23rd place), Physics, Agriculture, Geography, Communication, Economics, Mathematics and Modern Languages, as ranked at QS WUR by Scientific Disciplines Ranking 2014-2015. In overall, UAB is among the top 200 universities in 23 of the 36 subjects classified by QS.

This Faculty was established in 2009 as a result of the merger between the old Faculty of Economics and Business Studies on the Bellaterra Campus (founded in 1968) and the old School of Business Studies on the Sabadell Campus (founded in 1972) to offer the new degree courses according to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

There are currently two degrees offered entirely in English (Economics, since 2014, and Business Administration and Management, since 2011) and almost all the Master’s degree and a large number of subjects in the other degrees are also taught in English.
