2024 Undergraduate International Program in Economics (UIPE) (English-taught)

 

Program Overview

Undergraduate International Program in Economics (UIPE) aims to nurture future leaders who will make an impact on the world. They will be empowered with state-of-the-art knowledge about the world, charismatic leadership and global competitiveness in a diverse and multi-cultural environment for four years.

UIPE provides students with a curriculum based on Liberal Arts education and a gradually increasing depth in understanding Economics. All students in this program are encouraged to study abroad for at least one semester during the 4-year study. For students planning to go to industry or international organizations after graduation, internships abroad during summer or winter vacations during the senior academic year are encouraged; for the students planning further studies, rigorous education in Maths and economic theory at the advanced level will be offered.

UIPE requires the completion of no less than 150 credits, including no less than 38 credits of General Education Curriculum, 80 credits of Major Curriculum in Economics and 32 credits of elective courses. The General Education curriculum is


designed with a wide breadth of language, communication, politics, history, social science, literature, philosophy, science, arts, ecology and technology, etc. The Economics Major Curriculum is taught in English and is composed of economic courses with an increasing depth as the study carries on. Students must pay close attention to the prerequisites for each course.

Program Duration: 4 years

Students per Cohort: 20 international students

Application Qualification:

1.        High school graduate or above, qualified for university entrance, physically and mentally healthy foreigners.

2.   According to the regulations released by Ministry of Education, China, if an applicant has acquired foreign citizenship at birth and one or both of the applicant’s parents hold Chinese citizenship (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), the applicant must have held a valid foreign passport or certificate of nationality before May 1, 2020. In addition, the applicant must have lived outside Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan for at least two years during the period between May 1, 2020 and April 30, 2024 (subject to the entry and exit record, if the applicant has stayed outside Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan for nine months or longer period during one year, it is equivalent to one year).

Emigrants from Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan applying as international students must have held a valid foreign passport or certificate of nationality before May 1, 2020. In addition, the applicant must have lived outside Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan for at least two years during the period between May 1, 2020 and April 30, 2024 (subject to the entry and exit record, if the applicant has stayed outside Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan for nine months or longer period during one year, it is equivalent to one year).

From December 6, 2023 to March 20, 2024.

Application Procedure: Step 1. Online Application

Please complete the online application procedure (choose Personal Application→Undergraduate→UIPE), fill in required blanks and upload the scanned copies of the following original documents.

1.    Photocopy of valid passport identification page.

Only ordinary passport is accepted and the expiry date should be later than September 30, 2024.

2.   Applicants currently residing in China must provide a copy of the page containing a valid visa or residence permit.

3.     Diploma of highest degree conferred or proof of impending graduation (for applicants in their final year of study) (Original or notarized copy, with notarized Chinese or English translation, if original not in Chinese or English).

4.    Transcripts of highest degree conferred (original or notarized copy, with notarized Chinese or English translation, if original not in Chinese or English).

5.    Original or notarized copy of following English language test result (only for applicants whose native language is not English), students from high school with major courses taught in English may be waivered of the English language test.

6.     Two letters of recommendation in English from whom can attest to the quality of the applicant’s academic performance and scholastic potential. The letters must include recommenders’ phone number and email address. If the letters cannot be uploaded by the applicant, the applicant can send the link in the system to the recommender for filling in the letter.

7.   Applicants who are under 18 years old by September 1, 2024

must submit a Guarantee Statement, which can be downloaded from the websitehttps://iso.fudan.edu.cn/16062/list.htm;

The guarantor should be an adult, living in Chinese mainland with

a stable source of income.

8.   Applicants in category Application Qualification 2

(1)      Applicants who were born in a foreign country and have acquired foreign citizenship at birth, should provide documents to prove that one or both of the applicant’s parents have acquired permanent residence of the country before the applicant’s birth. Applicants who have emigrated from Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan and have acquired foreign citizenship should provide documentation of cancellation/rescission of his/her Chinese citizenship.

(2)         If the applicant has ever visited or lived in Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan, the applicant should submit entry and exit records and relevant visa or residence permit from May 1, 2020 (inclusive) upon application.

9.   Applicants may submit additional supporting documents which may demonstrate their comprehensive abilities along with the required documents, for example, award certificates, published essays, admission notices from other universities, etc.

Applicants without qualifications listed above please submit high school or university transcripts for assessment.

 Documents in the Online Application System before application. Step 2. Submit online application and pay application fee 800 RMB (online payment, non-refundable).

The   application   is   considered   invalid   without   paying   the application fee.

Step 3. Pay attention to the system for update.

Early application is strongly suggested. Please check the online application system and email frequently, correct and complete the application as required.

 

Interview (Online):

The exact time and qualification of the interview will be announced via online application system or email.

Admission:

Qualified students will be selected according to the results based on the interview and application documents.

Pre-admission results will be released in online application system in May 2024, students need to confirm their pre-admission qualification during specified period. Otherwise the pre- admission qualification will be withdrawn. The final admission results will be released on the website of International Students Office. Applicants may also check the status in the system.

The formal admission notice will be sent in July 2024.

The change of major is not allowed during the study period.

If fraud or favoritism is found, upon verification, severe consequences apply. If found during the application process, eligibility for admission will be disqualified. If found prior to matriculation, matriculation eligibility will be disqualified. If found after matriculation, admission and student status will be withdrawn.Time of Enrollment: Late August or early September 2024 (for specific time, please refer to the Admission Notice)

The admitted students must go through the admission and registration procedures in strict accordance with the requirements of Fudan University. The original passport, visa and diploma of highest degree conferred will be verified upon enrollment. Those

who do not submit corresponding certificates will be disqualified from admission.

Whether the applicant has the citizenship of the People's

Republic of China while having foreign citizenship shall be subject to the conclusion made by Exit-Entry Administration Bureau. If the applicant is concluded to have Chinese citizenship after application, admission and enrollment, the applicant will be disqualified from application, admission, enrollment or study.

Students who have registered at Fudan University may not

pursue degrees in other higher institutions at the same time (except institutions that have joint-degree programs with Fudan University). If any of the above circumstances is found, the student will be expelled from Fudan University.

 

Tuition: 80,000 RMB/Year (exact amount of tuition fee will be announced upon enrollment)
