Curriculum

1. Program Aim

Undergraduate International Program in Economics (UIPE) is an English-taught program with a duration of 4 years, aiming to nurture future leaders to make an impact on the world by empowering knowledge, charismatic leadership and global competitiveness in a diverse and dynamic global economy.

UIPE provides the student with a curriculum designed with the idea of gradually increasing depth in major education, liberal-art education throughout the four-year study, and rich oversea experiences. Literally, all students in this program are encouraged to study outside Chinese mainland for at least one semester. For students planning to go into industry and international organizations, interning during summer or fall semester is encouraged; for students planning to do PhD studies, more rigorous education on math and economic theory and recommendation to top PhD programs by directors will be offered.


2. Credit and Degree

For International students, UIPE requires the completion of no fewer than 24 credits of General Education Courses (including General Education Core Courses and Specialized Education Courses), 29 credits of Basic Courses in General Discipline, 36 credits of Professional Core Courses, and at least 36 credits from Multiple Development Path Courses. The total number of credits is at least 125. Bachelor in Economics will be granted by Fudan University to those who meet the requirements of the degree.

Undergraduate research/Industrial practice:  

Undergraduate research is to serve as a research assistant for the professors taking part in their research work.

Industrial practice is to to internship in companies or organizations around the world, with a focus on improving business-related skills.

② All the students are required to finish the thesis in English, and a Chinese abstract over 2,500 words is also required.

Ⅳ. Multi-development Paths

Multi-development paths include different pathways such as Professional Advancement, Academic Minor Programs and others. The students are required to select one of the development paths under the guidance of the supervisor, and follow the guidance to take the courses.

1).Professional Advancement (36 credits)

The path of professional advancement requires 36 credits, with at least 26 from Professional Advancedment I courses.

2) Honor Programs

3) Cross-disciplinary Programs

Students must complete a minimum of 36 credits. In order to fulfill the course requirements, students must take 1 or 2 course packages offered by other schools/departments. If it is 1 course package, then the combination is 21 credits of professional advancement I courses of UIPE + 1 course package from another school/department.

Students who successfully complete and meet all the graduation requirements of this path will receive a graduation certificate, the bachelor's degree in economics and a corresponding course package certificate upon graduation. 

4) Academic Minor Programs

Students must take at least 21 credits of  professional advancement I courses of UIPE and an academic minor program offered by another school/department in Fudan University.

Students who successfully complete and meet all the graduation requirements of this path will receive a graduation certificate, the bachelor's degree in economics and a minor certificate upon graduation. 

5) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Programs

Students must complete a minimum of 36 credits. In order to fulfill the course requirements, students are required to complete 1 or 2 innovative and entrepreneurial course packages offered by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute. The combination can be any 2 of the following: 21 credits of the professional advancement I courses of UIPE, course package 1 in innovation and entrepreneurship, course package 2 in innovation and entrepreneurship, a couse package offered by a school/department other than the School of Economics or the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute.

Students who successfully complete all the requirements of this path will receive a graduation certificate, the bachelor degree in economics and a course package certificate upon graduation.

6) Double Degree Programs with foreign partner universities

The students who take the double degree program path are required to complete General Education courses, Basic Courses in General Discipline, Professional Core courses, and a double degree program offered by a foreign partner university. The double degree program curriculum will be designated in accordance with the requirements in the collaboration agreement. Students who have completed the double-degree program and meet the requirements for graduation and degree awarding will receive a degree certificate from Fudan University and a degree certificate from a foreign partner university as well.

Other Notes

(1)Students must choose their development paths at the end of the 4th semester. Assessment corresponding to your selected path will be strictly given by graduation. 

(2)The academic credits for both sharing courses of major and multi-development are calculated only once. Students who choose or change the path should be approved by the supervisor.
