At 2:00 pm on February 26th, 2013, Professor Wing Thye Woo from the University of California Davis started his first session of the short intensive course on “Macroeconomic Crises of the 1990-2012 Period”, which is one of the courses offered under the program of the Jiang Xuemo Economics Lectures.
Prof. Woo is a part-time senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, and director of the East Asia Program within the Center for Globalization and Sustainable Development of The Earth Institute at Columbia University. He is also a distinguished professor of Fudan University.
This session started with a review of the previous lectures Prof. Woo presented at Fudan in the autumn of 2012 about economic crises during 1970-1990, followed by a brief introduction to the topics covered in this course.
The Jiang Xuemo Economics Lectures invites 6-8 professors a year from overseas to teach short economics or finance postgraduate courses at Fudan, which usually last 1-2 weeks.
