On June 6, the CCTV held the releasing ceremony for the CCTV financial 50 index series in the Listing Ceremony Hall of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. CCTV financial 50 index series is divided into five parts, i.e. CCTV 50 return, CCTV 50 innovation, CCTV 50 responsibility, CCTV 50 governance, and CCTV 50 growth. Each of the series selects top 50 companies as the components based on one of the 5 internationally recognized investment dimensions: innovation, growth, return, governance, and social responsibility. The launch of the series set a new benchmark for investment and is a significant innovation in terms of indexes in China ’s capital markets.

Fudan University , Peking University , Renmin University , Nankai University , and Central University of Finance and Economics, took part in the creation of the series and the selection of each index’s components.

In June 2012, the CCTV financial index 50 was successfully listed in the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. It was the first Chinese index released by national authoritative media and listed in the stock exchange. To further promote the CCTV index 50, the CCTV Financial Channel, the Center for Securities Studies in Fudan and the other five universities developed the CCTV financial 50 index series through close collaboration.

The Center for Securities Studies at Fudan, based on last year’s work, undertook the job to create the evaluation system of the CCTV 50 return index and selected the components, making great contribution to the listing of the index series. Professors Huang Yajun and Wang Yaoji, director and deputy director of the Center for Securities Studies, participated in the whole developing process of the CCTV financial index 50 and the return index.
