On April 16-18, 2014, a workshop on "Economic Development and Industrial Upgrading: East Asia and China" was held at Rm. 714 of Fudan University School of Economics. The workshop was organized by the CCES and funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Focusing on the theme of industrial upgrading, participants from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea presented their views on convergence, urbanization, international trade, industrial clustering, upgrading of labor quality, and the government's role in industrial upgrading. They also discussed their local experience in industrial upgrading.
