On November 12, 2014, French economist Thomas Piketty, author of “Capital in the Twenty First Century”, gave a wonderful lecture on “wealth and income distribution” in the Xie Xide Lecture Hall. This event was jointly hosted by the School of Economics, Fudan University, CITIC College and China Business News. Professor Yuan Zhigang, Dean of the Fudan School of Economics, attended as a guest speaker and Dr. Yanqing Yang, deputy editor-in-chief of China Business News, served as the emcee.

More than 500 people, including professors, students, alumni, staff of the French consulate, and journalists, attended the lecture. The lecture was divided into two parts. In the first part, Professor Piketty talked about wealth and income distribution. In the second part, he and Professor Yuan Zhigang had an in-depth discussion on the historical context and future trends of China's distribution of wealth.
