On Oct 13th, the grand celebration of SOE’s 30th Anniversary was successfully held at Wu Wenzheng Lecture Hall, Fudan University. Attending this cerebration were luminaries and accomplished alumni including Zhang Xunhua, Yu Kaixiang---senior professors from SOE, Wu Jinglian---famous economist, Zhu Zhiwen---secretary of the Party committee at Fudan University, Yang Yuliang---academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor at Fudan University, Lu Zhiqiang---CEO of China Ocean-wide ltd, Wang Zhan---dean of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Xu Zheng---vice president of Fudan University and Wei Shangjin---chief economist of Asian Development Bank. During the 30th anniversary celebration, the first International Advisory Committee was set up. The global alumni association and SOE board of directors were also established during the celebration.

The grand celebration unveils with an opening poem which served as a tribute paid to predecessors and masters, resonating with all the audience in reminiscence of the profound history of SOE, Fudan University. Bouquets were presented to eight senior professors by Zhu Zhiwen, secretary of the Party committee at Fudan University and Zhangjun, dean of SOE.

Zhu Zhiwen pointed out that the 30-year development and flourish of SOE has nourished generations of talents for China and made meaningful contributions to the prosperity of the society. Zhu also pointed out that SOE should continue to shoulder the responsibility of talent development with global perspectives and should promote innovations and strive to create a unique Fudan style.

Student and teacher representatives also gave speeches to express their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the future development of SOE.

During the past 30 years, SOE has long championed the notion of going international by making efforts in international cooperations and overseas academic exchange etc. The founder of Brandice International Business School, Prof. Peter Petri addressed on behalf of all foreign guests in the celebration and noted that Fudan’s achievements over the past 30 years were remarkable in the international society and is now on a shreshold of new developmental opportunities.

To further drive the trend of going international, the first International Advisory Committee was unveiled during the celebration. The formal establishment of this committee will further bond the connection between Fudan University and the world and boost the internationalization of academic research and educational development.

Wu Jianlian, celebrated Chinese economist, made a speech as the alumni representative. During the past 30 years, Wu noted that we on the one hand have been better equipped to solve questions arising from reforms, on the other hand, we should learn from the past and let mistakes in the past shed light on our future direction

The committee establishment was then followed by a donation ceremony. Lu zhiqiang,CEO of China Ocean-wide, made a donation worth of 50 million under the name of Ocean-wide public welfare foundation in support of SOE’s future development.

Another significant moment of this celebration was the establishment of Global Alumni Association. As recorded, there are now 35,000 SOE alumni all over the world. Up until now, 20 alumni liaison offices were founded worldwide, whose establishment will not only strengthen the links among global alumni, but also serve as a platform for resource sharing, building an academic home and practice field for global alumni.

In the end, Zhang Jun, Dean of SOE, concluded the celebration by elaborating on the future roadmap of SOE and laid a blueprint for its development in the years to follow. He noted that SOE will strive to stride towards the goal of becoming a Think-tank brimmed with globally influential academic achievements while in the meaning time serving as a cradle for talent development. SOE will, with concerted efforts, capture every developmental opportunity and overcome every obstacle in the hope of contributing more meaningfully to China.
