From September 7^th -8^th, the 6th “Transformation and Economic Development” (TED) biennial conference, co-chaired by Center for Chinese Economic Studies (CCES) of Fudan University, Technology and Management Center for Development of Oxford University and Japanese Association of Chinese Economic Management (JACEM) was successfully held at the School of Economics (SOE) of Fudan Univeristy.

Worldwide attention was drawn to this year’s TED conference. Professors and scholars from prestigious universities overseas and home attended this conference, including professors from Peking University, Fudan University, Oxford University, Tokyo University, London University, the Chinese University of Hongkong etc. Professor Zhang Jun from SOE gave a welcome speech in the morning of September 7^th.

This year's TED talk features opening keynote speech, live discussion, round-table conference and closing keynote speech with its focus on industrial upgrading and future prospects of the Chinese economy. The conference highlights the influence of demographic transition, financial markets and industrial policies on the development of Chinese economy. Professor Otsuka from National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies of Japan noted in the opening keynote speech the factors that could be conducive to China's trapping in middle income. Professor Yao Yang from Peking University analyzed the relation between the exchange rate policy and economic development in China. Professor Qu Wanwen addressed in the closing ceremony the multi-tiered particularity of China's industrial policy mode and professor Wu Yanrui noted the potential of service industry being the engine of future China's economic development.

The conference concluded with a gift-conferring ceremony. Dean Zhu Weidong from the School of Economics, Hefei Technology University extended his congratulations on the 110^th anniversary of the founding of Fudan University as well as the 30^th anniversary of SOE.
