Program Content

The camp included thirty-two 90-minute lectures, three company tours and various other activities. The lectures were delivered by top scholars in relevant research fields from leading universities including Fudan University, LSE, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Tianjin University. These lectures familiarized the students with China's business, social and economic landscape in the past, present and future. The students also visited a private company, Netease in Hangzhou, a sino-foreign joint venture, Shanghai Volkswagen, and a state-owned enterprise, Baosteel. These company tours provided students with opportunities to closely observe how various companies grasp market opportunities in China and grow to be competitive internationally. Other cultural activities helped students have a better understanding of Chinese culture and tradition.

Students' Favourites

The students were all eager to share their favourite experiences.

'My favourite is the history part of Chinese Economy. It enabled me to have an overview of the timeline of the economic development.'

'Hukou System! It really shocked me since I had little idea about it before I attended the class. I was able to understand China's situation and reasons behind the decisions made.'

'The meditation experience in Hangzhou was unique. But I understand it is just a small part of Chiense culture so I am thinking of starting learning Chinese and planning to visit different places in China.'
