On June 24th, the 8th Annual Joint Workshop on Socio-Economics, co-sponsored by Fudan University, University of Paris 1 and FERDI was held at Maison des Sciences Economiques, Paris. The workshop set a theme topic of Sustainbale Development. Dr. Zhao Chen, Dr. Jianfeng Ge, Dr, Haibo Xu and Dr. Yu Liu from Fudan University as well as Dr. Jean-Claude Berthelemy, Dr. Mathilde Maurel, Dr. Sandra Poncet, Dr. Jean-Pierre Laffargue and grade two doctoral students Sulin Sardoschau attended the workshop. Other participants were Dr. Anthony Edo from CEPII, Dr. Remi Bazillier from University of Orleans, Dr. Antoine Marsaudon from Paris School of Economics and Dr. Ping Hua from Cerdi.
Dr. Zhao Chen talked about the industrial relocation and air pollution in Beijing while Dr. Jianfeng Ge covered the topic of the syndrome of China’s service sector. Dr. Haibo Xu presented an intersting topic of Learning using incentives: evidence from a drug selling gang in Singapore. Dr. Yu Liu's thesis is about political economy of tax enforcement in China. Scholars from Frnace led presentations and discussions about insights from a multi-level analysis of bribe prevalence in developing countries, rro-immigration policies increase outmigration: evidence from Schengen Agreements, does democracy reduce the HIV epidemic? Evidence from Kenya, etc.
The wrokshop ended after a whole day discussion.
